Many of you have cars that have more than 100,000 miles. I just bought a 2002 Nissan Xterra with a little over 90,000 miles. That cuatro por cuatro has been around for 14 to 15 years and has seen shit.
Now, human beings are mentally piss poor at comprehending big numbers and long time. We aren’t built to.
Human beings also go GaGa for industrial made food. It’s delicious, lights up very old and powerful pathways in the brain, and it didn’t really get mainstream until after World War II.
If we think of human evolution in terms of that 100,000 mile beauty that has been nearly everywhere on this planet and experienced ice ages, plagues, the rise of language, and the harnessing of fire – that bag of flaming hot Cheetos in the back seat has only been around the last 3 to maybe 12 miles…
A blink of an eye as forests turned to pastures and cities rose from the dust.
We would be wise to make sure the majority of our diet is not based on empty, yet calorically dense “food” that human kind has never seen.
Is it difficult?
Yes, we can’t go back in time and human beings like shiny and new and sweet and salty.
But, if we don’t change our course humankind won’t be able to fit in the front seat.
